Korean study resources! These are key to finding new ways to learn and keep growing in Korean. New resources can also keep you invested and stop yourself from falling into just relying on the habit.
Today I’d like to get into a comment I received! They questioned how social cues in Korea might differ from what they are used to and how to adapt. While I covered a bit of superstitions and etiquette before, which influence the culture and how people act. Some extra things don’t seem as obvious, and while strange to us, they can seem second nature in Korea.
For early beginners, Matcha is a nice Hangul game to get you started with memorizing the characters and how everything stacks together. Probably combining inspiration from games like 2048, and the Korean language’s block-like structure. The game helps new learners play with and understand the writing system a bit more.
Building off my post about children’s media for learning Korean, here are some of the top Korean TV and movies! I wanted to make a two-for-one combo with this. First, it’s nice to use Korean media to help hear how people speak, follow along repeating lines, and just for general enjoyment. But also to connect with Koreans and the culture!

Now, luckily enough for us, a lot of Korean makeup and skincare terms are just the English flipped into Korean! But I’ll run through a lot of things from products, skin types, makeup-specific verbs, and more, so let’s get into it.
Games are always a favourite of mine to post about and share with everyone, and I have found another that I really like! Noun Town is a game that focuses on teaching many different aspects of language through gaming. In a 3D isometric world, you get to explore and literally add color back into the town by learning new things. The game is available for a lot of languages: Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, and of course Korean!
Sometimes it’s hard not to feel stuck in a rut, especially if you are self-studying and don’t have a clear lesson plan to follow. Or maybe you feel tired of what you are currently doing. Trying out new methods to learn Korean is a good idea to revitalize your motivation! You can decide to pair a new technique alongside what you have already or swap entirely if it works for you.
Today is 한글날 or Hangul Day, which is a Korean holiday dedicated to celebrating the Korean writing system and its creator King Sejong! So to commemorate, I’ll go through a bit on Hangul’s history, King Sejong, and some resources on how to learn Hangul yourself.

Podcasts can make a great resource for learning Korean and practicing your listening no matter what level you are at! Using podcasts to learn Korean is a great option because you can do it while doing chores, menial tasks, on the bus or train, or in many other situations.
